HYIP stands for High Yield Investment Program. Just what it sounds like, it is a program offering a high yield investment and is offered on the internet, through investment website. HYIPs are offering probably the most profitable investments available today, much more than any bank or investment fund can.
HYIPs typically accept investments ranging from $0.01 up to $10,000 or more while promising high returns. These returns are variable depending on the investment plans such as hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and/or 30 days, 50 days, 60 day, 90 days, 120 days, 150 days and even 365 days or yearly. In general, interest rates offered ranges anywhere between 1-5% daily, 2-10% and 3-40% monthly. But it’s not hard to find programs that offer higher profit or unrealistic rate in an unrealistic time frame, if you find one you can be sure it’s a SCAM or Ponzi-like program. Most HYIPs accepts payment through e-currency programs such as e-gold, e-bullion, liberty reserve and v-money; only a few accept PayPal and AlertPay. However, liberty reserve is the most common being used among these currencies.
A Ponzi scheme is a system by which investors are lured to invest in a program by promises of very high returns on the investment. Early investors are paid using the money that later investors invest in the scheme. Things go well until new investors stop joining the system and the money runs out.
